WORKSHOP INFORMATION

The application domain of embedded computing technologies started explosive growth in recent years. The potential impacts of such technological advances on economical strengths of nations and nation-blocks, have been well recognized. This coupled with the continuously expanding communication technologies and infrastructures, have enabled many government leaders and industry leaders to envision societies where ubiquitous networking and computing is facilitated and stimulated them to drive for competitive investments in the technology developments.

Embedded and ubiquitous computing systems must meet special requirements concerning functionality, dependability, timing, autonomy, power consumption, expandability, human interface, etc. These requirements pose challenges to the research community. WSTFEUS is meant to be a forum for exchange of ideas, newly obtained scientific understandings, lessons learned through development experiences, and R&D plans in the following areas:

  • Emerging applications
  • Emerging components
  • Software architecture and programming models
  • Communication system architecture
  • Plans for and progresses in major R&D projects
  • Requirements specification
